Narrative
Paul Maxon, Esq. is one of the few Boulder County attorneys specializing in employment law. According to Maxon, "Because of the complex and evolving nature of employment law, I think that specializing is the best way to give my clients top-notch service."
Before deciding to specialize, Mr. Maxon worked on a wide variety of complex civil litigation. He began his career with the highly respected Los Angeles firm of O'Melveny & Myers, where he was a member of American Lawyer's "2003 Litigation Department of the Year." During his tenure at O'Melveny, Mr. Maxon routinely worked on some of this country's most complex cases, including claims in excess of one billion dollars. "While the experience I gained at O'Melveny was invaluable, I was ultimately more interested in using my skills to challenge corporate power, not defend it. That is what is so gratifying about my employment law practice. I get to use big-city, big-firm skills to help individuals."
To date, Mr. Maxon has worked on cases in eight different states, involving both federal and state courts, including cases brought before both federal appellate and state supreme courts. In addition to employment law, he has experience in a wide array of areas, including: class actions, mass torts, environmental law, securities litigation, appellate law, and financial reporting, to name a few.
Mr. Maxon graduated from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. While there, he received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Order of the Coif, for graduating in the top ten percent of his class, and the Chief Justice Malcolm Lucas Award, for finishing his first year ranked number one in his class.
Mr. Maxon is a member of the Boulder County Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Plaintiff's Employment Lawyers Association, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in both Colorado and California.
